Liquid Based Cytology Cervical Cancer Screening
The ThinPrep 5000 cytology processor provides high quality smear and maximum automation.
Membrane filtration method is used for purification and concentration of cells.
Gentle agitation ensures material randomization, mucus dissolution and erythrocyte destruction. During the filtration process, mucus, artifacts and debris are removed, and cells and other diagnostic elements are concentrated on the filter in a thin layer and then transferred to glass. Leukocytes, bacteria and fungi also remain in the preparation. The result is a monolayer cytological preparation with a clear background and evenly distributed diagnostic elements.
All operations for the preparation of a smear are performed by the processor automatically. Samples are loaded into the processor in batches of 1 to 20 pieces. The operator marks samples and glasses, loads them into the processor and presses the “start” button. The finished slides are automatically unloaded into the staining rack.
Before starting preparation, the processor automatically verifies barcodes of samples and glasses, which ensures traceability of each sample and eliminates sample preparation errors. The processor is controlled by a color touch screen.
To view preparations, you can use both a universal microscope and automatic scanning and viewing systems. ThinPrep Imaging System (networked image analysis system) and ThinPrep Integrated Imager (autonomous workstation of a cytologist).
